Salesforce Setting: Automatic Record Matching
This article explains the function and impact of the Salesforce setting, Automatic Record Matching. If you would like to learn more about this setting or would like instructions on setting it up, please go here.
Note: This setting only applies to users integrated with Salesforce.
What it Does
This feature allows Chrome extension Admins to control how accounts and contacts are matched to existing records in Salesforce. This enables further accuracy beyond account or contact names and prevents the generation of duplicates in your CRM.
Why it is Important
This setting enables admins to set boundaries that support CRM hygiene and maintenance. By setting rules that prevent LeadIQ from creating duplicate accounts and contacts, admins can proactively avoid the common challenge of managing Salesforce duplicates.
How it Works
There are three factors used to support Automatic Record Matching to improve matching accuracy:
- Region (supported for account level only)
- Country (supported for account level only)
- Record Owner (supported for both account and contact levels)
1. Region
Region (supported only at the account level) allows accounts in LeadIQ and Salesforce to be matched if they have identical regions.
- Example: If Salesforce has an existing account based in EMEA and a seller captures an account in LeadIQ with the same name but it is located in APAC, the accounts will not be matched.
2. Country
Like above, Country (also only supported at the account level) allows accounts in LeadIQ and Salesforce to be matched if they have identical countries.
- Example: If Salesforce has an existing account based in Australia and a seller captures an account in LeadIQ with the same name that is also located in Australia, the accounts will be matched.
3. Record Owner
Record Owner (supported at both the account and contact level) allows existing accounts and contacts in Salesforce to be matched to accounts and leads in LeadIQ, as long as the individual capturing the data in LeadIQ is also the Record Owner in Salesforce.
- Example: If John is listed as the Record Owner of the lead, Jane Doe, in Salesforce, then LeadIQ will only match new LeadIQ contact data to Jane Doe if John captures it.
