Salesforce Setting: Default Values
This article explains the function and impact of the Salesforce setting, Default Values.
Note: This setting only applies to users integrated with Salesforce.
What it Does
The Default Values setting allows Admins to determine specific field values for accounts, contacts, and leads that will be automatically recorded when LeadIQ imports data into the CRM.
Why it is Important
This setting is essential to maintaining organization and consistency throughout Salesforce. Especially when used to track data attribution, it allows admins to easily identify data provided from different sources, which supports future data coverage and quality evaluations.
How it Works
Admins determine specific field values that will automatically populate in the CRM when an object is created by LeadIQ.
- Use Case #1: This setting is advised to enable data attribution to streamline data quality reporting in the future. By creating a Source custom field for objects and setting a LeadIQ Default Value as LeadIQ, you can easily and automatically track the data that LeadIQ imported into your CRM.
- Use Case #2: This setting is commonly used as a fallback when LeadIQ leaves a field blank due to insufficient data. In this case, an Admin can proactively select a default value to populate the blank field—which typically later functions as a trigger in a downstream CRM workflow.
